Members of the group, and others present on the day may do training and practice
for which they may or may not be in full historical costume.
Attendance, weather and COVID restrictions permitting, activities may include:
Arts and crafts (for example; metal work, leatherwork, pottery, wood-working, blacksmithing,
weaving, etc), displays and practices of military drills and mock battle re-enactments
(ie; combats or ‘skirmishes’ using historical reproduction arms and armour such as
sword fighting), static displays of historical items and artefacts, dancing, costuming,
food and cookery, brewing, language & literature, story telling, games and pastimes,
calligraphy and illumination, archery and historical target practices and displays,
with particular focus on the Dark age and Celtic heritage.
These events are held to be fun and encourage the town to come together. We also
welcome visitors from other towns and realms beyond our borders.
Not interested in combat? No problem. Celtic Artist Peter will be here working on
one of his latest pieces.
No costume? No problem, come as you are. Our historical costumier Storm can take
your measurements and orders and work on something for you to wear at a later date.
She can also show you how to weave your own trimmings.
No weapons training? No problem. Our combat instructor Dale is very supportive and
happy to guide you where necessary. Be it archery, swordsmanship or shield work.
No weapons? No problem, there are plenty to go around, although arrows seem to be
in increasingly short supply.
No cash? No problem. These are free events. We volunteer our time to make these events
happen. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we do.
Too hungry at lunch. Well once COVID restrictions permit we hope to be able to offer
a taste of the dark age. Until then you can head across the highway to The Super
Strawberry for an array of strawberry related goodies.
Everyone welcome, within restriction limits. Please be sure to sign in or scan your
phone at the shop so we can contact you if we need to.
This event runs every 2 weeks on Sunday’s between 12 noon and 4pm.
If you would like to get involved and help us to continue living history, please
contact us, talk to a member of ROGUE through their Facebook group, or just come
along to an event and have fun.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
The next Rogue committee meeting will be held on 7th February.
